When and where?
From: "J. R. McCutcheon"
what year and for what team did Sachel Page first
play in the major league.
Danny simply answered with this:
Cleveland Indians, 1948
Casey gave us this bit of information:
about Sachel Page: (I think his name is
actually spelled differently)...anyways....in the following website
(Satchel Paige's official biography page), there's a biography of
Satchel Paige. In this biography, it says that he was tested by Bill
Veeck before pitching in the major league for the Cleveland Indians
in 1948. He helped the Indians win the pennant. Here is the website

David K did a little bit of research:
First of all, the man's name is
spelled Satchel Paige. He first played for the Cleveland Indians in
1948 and had a won-loss record of 6-1 and an ERA of 2.48. He later
played for the St Louis Browns (who are now the Baltimore Orioles)
and the Kansas City Athletics (who are now the Oakland Athletics),
compiling a lifetime won-loss record of 28-32 and an ERA of 3.29.
That stint with the A's was actually for only one start, after he
had been out of baseball for 12 years. He was in his mid-50's at the
time, and he pitched 3 scoreless innings.
Here's a link showing his lifetime statistics in Major League
Baseball
